1: CRAFTED BY PEUGEOT SPORT

PEUGEOT Sport developed the 308 GTi on the basis of a very clear brief: a compact, sporty car that's punchy and thrilling, for the ultimate in driving pleasure. This vision is clearly encapsulated in every aspect of the car.

The beating heart of the 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport is a Euro 6-compliant 200kW (270hp) 1.6-litre turbo THP S&S (stop and start) engine – enough to see the vehicle accelerate to 100km/h in as little as 6.0 seconds and can cover 1,000 m from a standing start in just 25.3 seconds. It develops peak torque of 330Nm at just 1,900rpm and feature a six-speed manual transmission.
 
The entire vertical suspension at the front has been specially designed with stiffer springs and a calibrated shock absorber with hydraulic stop.
 
The adjustable chassis, the high-pressure injection engine (200 bar), the sound of the exhaust, and the Torsen® limited-slip differential make the new 308 GTi something well worth celebrating.

2: SHARP GTi DESIGN

The contours of the 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport are bold and sporty. With its unique posture, 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport sits 11mm lower to the ground, this coupled with 19’’ aluminium Carbone wheels gives the car an imposing stance. Hints of the cars potential can be found throughout: twin exhaust pipes, 380 mm front brake discs pinched by red calipers branded PEUGEOT Sport, chequered flag inspired radiator grille, GTi logos on the front wings and tailgate, aerodynamic deflectors at the base of the bumpers - devotees and GTi purists alike will be delighted.


3: EXCLUSIVE INTERIOR DESIGN

The front bucket seats are upholstered in alcantara with red stitched detail bearing the PEUGEOT Sport logo. They offer superb lateral support, allowing you to merge with the car and feel its trajectory, regardless of the driving conditions. The compact, dimensions of the steering wheel deliver a natural, precise grip. Encased in full-grain leather, it displays the GTi logo at its base, plus a red centering mark at the top. The large front bumper reflects the high performance standards of the 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport. The roomy air intake supplying the intercooler sports a quite unique design, with a grille flanked by sequential LED indicators that scroll in an outwards formation, plus a strip in red or chrome (with the Ultimate Red and Coupe Franche finishes). PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERING

The entire vertical suspension at the front has been specially designed, combining the following:

  • bespoke spring stiffness
  • a calibrated shock absorber with a hydraulic damping stop designed to limit noise
  • a progressive bump stop that's been stiffened and extended so as to begin working the moment compression starts at times when the driver is the only one aboard.

To ensure a better match with the rear axle, the anti-roll bar is more malleable. On the rear axle, the stiffness of the cross-beam and filters has been boosted, rising from 30 to 500 daN/mm along the lateral axis and from 170 to 490 daN/mm along the vertical.


CAR-TO-GROUND CONNECTING COMPONENTS

The running gear is precisely balanced, delivering dynamic driving and complete confidence. The pseudo-McPherson strut in the front operates with precision, while the torsion beam in the rear ensures seamless pairing. These components also help reduce the car's overall weight, with a semi-hollow anti-roll bar and aluminium wishbones in the front.

PEUGEOT Sport have been equally meticulous as regards the bushings - a part made of flexible material capable of absorbing impacts and vibrations between mechanical systems and the structure supporting them - for the engine these too have been stiffened. The benefits are immediately apparent: as soon as you enter a curve in the road, the car turns promptly, without any delay or improper movement.


TORSEN® LIMITED-SLIP DIFFERENTIAL

The Torsen® limited-slip differential is incorporated into the gearbox for more dynamic cornering. This channels torque to the wheel with the most grip, allowing the driver to accelerate earlier when coming out of a bend. Meanwhile, the wheel is relaying precise data, and the car faithfully executes every turn initiated via the compact steering wheel.


HIGH PRECISION MECHANICS

The electronic driver assistance software is thoroughly in keeping with the car's sporty personality. The guidelines for the power-assisted steering have been specially designed to dovetail with the Torsen® limited-slip differential.

The Torsen® limited-slip differential also draws on new Traction Control rules for optimised implementation. The sportier Electronic Stability Program (ESP) creates more latitude, and in particular enhanced drift on winding roads. Thanks to the friction of the planetary gears - which transmits the torque - the two front wheels remain at roughly similar speed when cornering, so the car follows the correct trajectory. DRIVER SPORT PACK

The Driver Sport Pack offers you the option of further enhancing the sporty ambiance of the vehicle. Just press the SPORT button on the centre console, and the instrumentation changes from white to red, and more information becomes available on the centre panel (power, torque, turbo pressure, lateral and longitudinal acceleration), the engine sound is amplified (via the audio system) and the accelerator pedal mapping adjusted.


308 GTi PERFORMANCE


State-of-the-art moving components include forged aluminium pistons, strengthened segmentation and connecting rods, polymer-enhanced bearings and reinforced bolts. To ensure consistent performance, the pistons are cooled from below by a double oil spray system.

To make the most of the chassis, the 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport contains a 1.6L THP (Turbo High Pressure) S&S (Stop&Start) petrol engine. Drawing on the full expertise of the PEUGEOT Sport engineers, its 200 kW of power and 330 Nm of torque are perfectly regulated, even at high speeds, thanks to the specially designed waste control valve for the turbo. Furthermore, the exhaust manifold is made of steel, and is capable of withstanding temperatures of up to 1,000°C.

With the GTi 270 producing 125kW per litre, this is the highest specific output of any vehicle in the segment.


REINFORCED GEARBOX

To contain the increased torque of up to 330 Nm, the six-speed manual gearbox has been reinforced. The two shafts have been shot-blasted, and the gears subjected to intense carbonitriding. By boosting their carbon and nitrogen content, this thermochemical process has improved the ability of these parts to withstand wear and tear and fatigue. The output axle has also been shortened, to improve acceleration.


EFFICIENCY

Weighing in at a mere 1,205 kg, the 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport boasts an excellent, class-leading power/weight ratio of 6kg/kW. It also pulls off the striking feat of generating combined cycle CO2 emissions of just 139 g/km, and averaging an impressive 6.0l / 100km in a combined cycle – a record in this sector – 8.1l / 100km on a city cycle and 4.9l / 100km on a highway cycle.

308 GTi SAFETY

The 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport draws extensively on the experience and expertise of the PEUGEOT Sport team to deliver a winning combination of high performance, first-rate road handling and maximum safety.


ROAD HANDLING

The 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport is a road-hugging marvel, its widened tracks (1,570 mm in front, 1,554 mm at the rear) are shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 235/35 R19 tyres. The result is a level of grip that pushes lateral and longitudinal road holding to its outer limits. The car tackles corners with an assertive precision, making optimum use of its tyres thanks to the revisions carried out on the design of its front running gear. The wheel camber has been adjusted to -1.67°, as opposed to -0.6° on the regular 308. The rear articulation of the wishbone has been stiffened, taking it from 110 to 1800 daN/mm.


AIRBAGS

The 308 GTi by PEUGEOT Sport is fitted with six airbags:

  • Two front airbags to protect the head and thorax of the driver and front passenger in the event of a front impact.
  • Two front side airbags to protect the driver and front passenger in the event of a side impact.
  • Two front and rear curtain airbags to protect the heads of the front and rear occupants.

BRAKE DISCS

To ensure plenty of braking power, the ventilated front discs are 380 mm in diameter. They're mounted on aluminium hubs and pinched by four pistons (38 mm and 41 mm diameter) in a fixed Red caliper bearing the PEUGEOT Sport logo. The rear discs are 268 mm in diameter.

In use, the system proves extremely durable and resilient, consistently delivering outstanding performance.
