2021 Peugeot 5008 pricing and specs detailed: Facelift arrives for Nissan X-Trail, Mitsubishi Outlander and Honda CR-V rival

Peugeot Australia has released pricing for the facelifted version of the second-generation 5008 mid-size SUV, with the seven-seater sticking with its two-variant line-up.

Due in showrooms in the coming weeks, the 5008 is now available in a single flagship grade, dubbed GT, which comes with either a petrol or a diesel turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

That said, the mid-size SUV’s starting price is still $51,990 plus on-road costs, with the GT petrol variant now kicking off proceedings with a 121kW/240Nm 1.6-litre engine, which is mated to a six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.

For reference, the seven-seater’s previous GT Line entry-level grade was not only identically priced, but also had the same engine-transmission combination.

Either way, the Nissan X-TrailMitsubishi Outlander and Honda CR-V rival’s GT diesel variant remains powered by a 133kW/400Nm 2.0-litre engine, which is matched to an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. However, it is now $1000 dearer, at $59,990.

As reported, the 5008’s facelift ushers in a redesigned front fascia, which is headlined by new LED headlights with ‘lion’s teeth’, a frameless grille and black side air intakes, while a model-specific monogram is now positioned at the bonnet’s edge.

At the rear, the tail-lights now exclusively have LED bulbs and feature a three-dimensional ‘tiger’s claw’ signature, sequential indicators and smoked lenses.

Inside, Peugeot’s upgraded i-Cockpit is found, with it now pairing a 10.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system (up from 8.0 inches) with an unchanged 12.3-inch digital instrumental cluster.

The suite of advanced driver-assist systems now extends to autonomous emergency braking with all-day pedestrian and cyclist detection (from 5-140km/h), lane-keep and steering assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, extended traffic sign recognition and Night Vision.

Full specification details for the GT will be revealed by Peugeot Australia soon, so stay tuned for an update to this story.
